GREAT FILM...GREAT ACTING...SOME FILM! SOME BEASTS.

I'll say it now.  Frank Mosley is probably one of the best film actors we have in Dallas.

2015 Dallas International Film Festival premiere of SOME BEASTS.

I recently had the pleasure of seeing the 2015 Dallas International Film Festival premiere of SOME BEASTS written and directed by Cameron Bruce Nelson. Frank Mosley stars as Sal Damon, a farm care taker in Appalachia forced to reassess his identity within this farming community.

I'll say it now.  Frank Mosley is probably one of the best film actors we have in Dallas. He conveys so much with his face and is effortless and efficient.  He has a beautiful way of delivering his dialogue, so nuanced, unforced and effective.  The genius of the film is that it takes on the neorealism approach by weaving actors with non-actors.  It forces the actors not to act and the non-actors to be slightly aware producing a seamless world.  Frank, Cameron and the rest of the cast and crew all lived together during several seasons to capture the ever changing landscape of the farm life.  It was so apparent that this process proved to serve the story because you could see that change in Frank.  He went through a beautiful physical transformation with full force.  Cameron and Hutch (director of photography) served the story well with so much visual poetry since the landscape is at the core one of the most important characters. The title comes from Pablo Neruda's poem, Algunas Bestias about a paradise that is blissful and dangerous at the same time. SOME BEASTS is without a doubt a literary film.

Cameron, Mosley and Hutch take great care in following in the footsteps of iconic indie filmmakers and actors and that's what separates them from the local filmmaking scene in Dallas.  It's refreshing to see this type of work handled with such care and preparation.  Look for it at the NASHVILLE FILM FESTIVAL (https://nashvillefilmfestival.org) on the 17th and 20th of April. And check out their website for future developments (http://www.somebeasts.com).

Eva's Birthday Bash in San Antonio.

So back in early March my wife and I got invited to Eva Longoria's 40th birthday weekend celebration. People have been asking me about it. I won't divulge too much since I respect Eva's privacy as well as her family and friends who were just lovely.

So back in early March my wife and I got invited to Eva Longoria's 40th birthday weekend celebration. People have been asking me about it. I won't divulge too much since I respect Eva's privacy as well as her family and friends who were just lovely. I got to meet and work with Eva on the film FRONTERA starring Ed Harris and Michael Peña.  I played Ramon, a local human smuggler hired by Eva.  The bulk of my scenes were with Eva and let's just say the scenes were not nice.  I was definitely her tormentor but behind the scenes Eva was totally cool and we shared many laughs due to our experience.  After the filming of FRONTERA Eva had invited me to shoot stills for her short OUT OF THE BLUE which she was directing and being produced by Canon and Ron Howard's company.  The one thing I can say about Eva is that she is a natural at directing.  All those years as an actress and paying attention was obvious on her set. I certainly appreciated her trust and sincerity during her short.

We've stayed in touch on and off.  I wouldn't say we're close friends but it was a nice gesture on her part to include my wife and I among her friends and family back in March.  She is a force to be reckoned with because she harnesses her followers and gives them all a purpose for good causes.  And that's exactly what she did for her 40th birthday bash.  She had a scavenger hunt for her friends and family at Morgan's Wonderland (http://www.morganswonderland.com).  It's the only park in the world that is built specifically for special needs kids and adults.  Eva did this in order to bring awareness to this special park.  She invited the media to her private gathering just for that purpose and had her formal sit down birthday gala at the park and money was raised to help Morgan's Wonderland.  I don't like celebrities since most of them are a bit vapid and self-serving.  Eva is a smart woman who engages politicians, business minded people, entertainers to work for something beyond themselves for greater causes...and that is not necessarily being a celebrity but an activist and community leader...and in her case...a person with a great big heart. Wishing her many more years of success and especially love.  Oh by the way, I always refer to her as our Latina Oprah Winfrey! She just needs a talk show.

“A wickedly delightful compendium of six standalone shorts united by a theme of vengeance -- the kind that explodes in spectacular bursts after a put-upon soul is screwed over too many times.” Jay Weissberg, Variety. Inequality, injustice, and the demands of the world we live in cause stress and depression for many people. Some of them, however, explode. This is a movie about those people.

LOOKS LIKE SICARIO WILL BE RELEASED ON SEPT. 25TH.

Looks like SICARIO, the film I worked on in New Mexico, will open in September.  My role was not huge but it was an important scene full of intensity...a two day shoot working opposite Beneicio Del Toro.  Obviously I can't say too much...but we used two boxes of ammo for our scene.  I'll reveal more in September after it opens. STAY TUNED. :}

New website to share with everyone.

I'm excited to share with everyone my first official website.  The site will make it easier for me to share my experiences but also a place where people can see what I'm up to. I get tired of explaining to strangers what I do or what I've been in recently. I'm getting to damn old validating my job.  We don't ask doctors or even plumbers (no offense) to explain their profession or about their last surgery or toilet install. I'm an actor...I've raised two kids doing it and now we have a newborn. It's what I do...period. Thanks for all the support so many of you have given me. Love y'all!
